Dobromir (1.8-25.9.2016)
Dobromir hatched in 2012 in northern Bulgaria and was tagged same year as a juvenile. During its first migration, he spent one year and seven months in Sudan until the spring of 2014, when he took one of the longest documented Egyptian vultures journeys. Started on 9 May 2014, Dobromir covered more than 20 thousands km in five months, crossing 17 countries on 3 continents. He is the first Egyptian Vulture tagged on the Balkans, that passed through the Caucasus and Iran, places we have thought that are too far to be visited by a bird from the Balkans. The winters of 2014/2015 and 2015/2016, Dobromir spent in Afar, Ethiopia and Sudan. At the end of May 2016, he reached the Balkans and for some time stayed in the region of the nest where he was hatched and tagged with a satellite transmitter in 2012. Then he began to float northern Bulgaria (visiting the Nature Park "Rusenski Lom") and southeastern Romania (even flew over the airport of Bucharest). At the end of August 2016, Dobromir started his migration to Africa and reached Northen Kordofan in Sudan. Unfortunately, on 25/9/2016 Dobromir died (probably killed) as the coordinates are from the village Halasa, while on 27/9/2016 the last coordinates are from a building in the settlement Barah.
