International support in the fight against poison

Poisoned Egyptian vulture (HOS/L. Sidiropoulos)

BirdLife International together with the Vulture Conservation Foundation (VCF) sent a join letter to the European and Greek Authorities about the poisoning of Lazaros.

Lazaros was found on the 2nd of April poisoned in the north of Greece, next to another adult Egyptian vulture; both birds were returning to their breeding areas in Meteora (Central Greece) after a long trip from their wintering grounds in Africa. In their letter, these two organizations urge Greek authorities to take immediate actions to find the culprit but also to include poison in their agenda as a top priority conservation issue, investing time and resources to create the institutional structure needed to effectively fight against poison.
