After four years of wandering in Africa a young Egyptian vulture has returned in the land of its birth in Northern Bulgaria.

In 2010 a yellow ring had been placed on the left leg of the Egyptian vulture fledgling with the inscription "KOX". Thanks to it the bird was recognized by the team of the LIFE+ project “The return of the Neophron”. The Egyptian vulture, which is likely to be female, had found a partner. We certainly hope the bird one day will raise her own offspring in the same place, where she was born.

In science this attachment to the place where the species is hatched, is marked by a specific term - Phylopatry.  This phenomenon is very important for the survival of the Egyptian Vultures in the Balkans, as it serves as a kind of reserve for population.
