The guard of the nest in Nea Santa/WWF

Katerina, Paschalis and Thodoris, the guards of 3 Egyptian vultures' nests in Dadia National Park and in Nea Santa, were impressed by the gender equality among male and female Egyptian vultures during their breeding activities. They observed that the parents collaborate during all breeding phases. Together they fly from place to place on the rock till they decide the final hole to prepare their nest in. They share fairly the eggs' incubation and the nest control from unwanted visitors, like ravens. They also share the food carrying to their chicks till they are ready to fly away. Everything except of one job: the preparation of the nest. The male is responsible of carrying the branches and arranging them in the place where the eggs will be laid. So the "house" building is men's job!
