Autumn visits of Egyptian vulture nests in Thrace

Although the last Egyptian vultures have already left for Africa, we do not stop studying them. This month, the pellet and food remain collection is carried out by the WWF team in all nests which were active this year in Thrace in order to estimate the species diet composition. In addition, we would like to identify if there is any relation between the proportion of the major diet items and the breeding success of each monitored pair. Food remains include all materials which are not consumed by the vultures such as bones, feathers, carapaces of tortoises. Afterwards, the collected samples will be analyzed by experts to distinguish the consumed species.
