You can already track the migration ways of the Egyptian Vultures in real time on the LifeNeophron.eu website. The road of the eight Egyptian Vultures can be traced by satellite transmitters placed under the LIFE+ project "The Return of the Neophron”. Each vulture is presented with his name and portrait.
“Satellite tracking is not just a technology that allows us to track the migration ways of the Egyptian Vultures and to research the treats to the species. We know each of these vultures, his fate and genuinely excited about his future, "said Stoyan Nikolov, project manager.
Thanks to the online module for satellite tracking, we can track the migration routes of the Egyptian Vultures to their “winter lodgings”. Look where they are now:
Arda
Volen
Dobromir
Icarus
Ilyaz
Lazaros
Lefkipos
Svetlina

Fiveof the juvenile Vultures are from are Bulgarian population, while the remaining three - from the Greek. Arda, Volen, Dobromir, Ilyaz Light, Icarus, Lefkipos are the young Egyptian vultures that were marked this summer before making their first attempt to fly. The adult Vulture Lazaros was marked after being found helpless.
The weight of the transmitters is 45 grams, which is about 3% of the total weight of the bird, so as not to interfere their normal life and flight. The colors of the devices comply with their feathers, so as not to be seen and not attract the attention of malevolent people.
