The first Egyptian vultures arrived in Bulgaria! Three pairs were observed in their nests in the Eastern Rhodopes. Also, a single bird was spotted in the the Russenski Lom Natural Park - the northest location of the species in Eastern Europe, where in 2013 the male bird of the pair disappeared during the incubation and the breeding failed. We were afraid that the territory could be abandoned in 2014, but fortunately not.

Another Egyptian vulture was observed in SPA "Studen kladenec". A bird has successfully arrived in Provadiisko Rojaksko plateau, too.

Тhe birds come back to the Balkans to breed after spending the cold winter months in warmer tropical and subtropical regions.

We wish them a fruitful breeding season!
