- The conservation of the Egyptian vulture can be great adventure
Original computer game that presents the treats to the endangered Egyptian vulture was created by the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) and "Biogama". "The Life of the Egyptian Vulture" presents different periods of growth of the birds in each of the levels. The game was created to arouse keen interest among children to nature.
The player plays the role of the Egyptian Vulture and strives to pass along the difficulties and threats in his life, so survive and pass to the next level. In each level information about the biology, ecology and conservation of the species is encapsulated. So, playing the young people imperceptibly learn interesting facts about the amazing birds and nature, the relation between the player's actions and the eventual success or failure.
The goal of the game is to make people more sensitive and responsive to the conservation and to reduce the negative processes in nature. The main target group is young people who prefer to receive information in a more entertaining way that tickles their curiosity and encourage them to seek additional information" said Stoyan Nikolov, project manager of the project LIFE + “The Return of the Neophron”.
The game has 4 levels. The first level is ready and the other three levels will be ready by the end of the year.
Each level represents a different stage in the life of the Egyptian vulture and puts the main task of a certain type and forms relevant skills, such as feeding, flying, choosing migration routes and more. For solving the problem could be chosen different strategies.
"The main challenge for the team was the limited budget, which is far below the market price of such game, but we really wanted to do the job efficiently and to support the cause. Therefore, we had to work overtime on a voluntary basis. It was an incredibly interesting challenge to develop a game about the real life of a bird”, said Ilia Pchelarov from "Biogama."This is the first ever game produced in Bulgaria that matched the characteristics of a computer game with educational element.”
