Art installation for the Day of Ruse and the World Migration Birds Day

08.05.2013

The Day of Ruse and the World Migration Birds Day - which is the linking element – it is the Egyptian Vulture. It is a migration bird and neighbor to the residents of Ruse - unknown, unappreciated and threatened.
Ruse is the Northern part where you can see Egyptian Vultures in Europe. There the Bulgarian Society for the protection of birds team of the project LIFE+ "The Return of the Neophron" in collaboration with the Municipality of Ruse, created installation in praise of the Egyptian vulture. In the construction of the installation participated people of different ages, but the most active were kids.
The installation was built by silhouettes of Egyptian vultures that each participant had to decorate by a technique called "decopatch" and personally attached to the big contruction.
The creative process stimulates curiosity about the species - why we have chosen the Egyptian vulture, why is he so extraordinary, how to help him?
Many people realized for the first time that the species can be seen near Ruse. Even it was numerous years ago, now there are just two couples left.
