Maria (24.9-10.10.2016)
Maria is juvenile Egyptian vulture from Eastern Rhodopes, hatched in 2016. On August 5, a team of BSPB tagged her with a satellite transmitter. The bird is a child of Boris – the vulture tagged with a satellite transmitter in 2015. By the telemetry data, we aim to find out whether parents and their young migrate together or separately. The juvenile Egyptian vulture made its first flight on August 15 – the big Christian holiday “Assumption”. From there came the idea to name the vulture – Maria. It stayed about 40 days around the nest and started its first migration on 24th of September.
