- BSPB participated in a meeting about bird crime
On December 4, 2012 a consultative meeting between the BSPB and institutions took place in Shumen. The theme of the meeting was "Improving the cooperation between institutions in prevention, investigation and resolution of cases of poaching and illegal trade with protected species."
Among the 14 participants were RIEW - Shumen, Customs Bureau – Shumen, District Court – Shumen, Regional Prosecutor - Shumen and others. The BSPB representatives were Lazar Petrunov and Dimitar Gradinarov ".
During the meeting a total of 11 presentations were made presenting different aspects of the problem of wildlife crime. They provided examples of poaching and illegal trade with protected species. The legal framework was presented and discussed in details. The representatives of BSPB made presentations on "Prevention of bird crimes" and "Recognition of the different groups of wild birds that are trafficked." The main focus of the meeting was the lack of effective control over hunters during hunting trips.
