Health status

Serious threat for the Egyptian Vulture could be the bad condition of the food it consumes.
Just as a Pharaoh, on the top of the food pyramid, it accumulates in its organism injurious
to health chemicals which can make the vulture ill or even kill it.

This study includes blood and secretion samples from juvenile vultures in Greece and Bulgaria.
Physiological samples will be analysed in specialized laboratories for the levels of heavy metals,
antibiotics and pesticides.  Actually, the study represents something as a medical  examination of our
“plumaged patients” which to provide us with information about their health status.
